Discover the historic center of Meaux, with this 100% urban route.
1 – Leave the train station city-side, cross the parking and walk down the Marne quay. Turn left, walk under the 4 lane road bridge and, soon after, leave the quay to reach the place Jacque Chirac (city hall). Take the street straight ahead, rue de Martimprey, pass in front of the Saint-Etienne cathedral et continue in the same direction via the rue Bossuet. Enter the Bossuet garden on your right, walk around it and leave via the same way to go on the rue Bossuet again. At the end of this street, admire the Gallo-Roman ramparts. Turn right and follow the path that goes along the medieval fortifications.
2 – Take the first street on the right, rue Notre-Dame, and rue St-Maur on the left, rue Tronchon on the right, and rue Rochard on the right again to get to place St-Pierre, behind the cathedral. From there, take successively the rue du Général Leclerc, the place Henri IV on the right, the rue Gambetta on the left and finally the avenue de la République on your right.
3 – Take the first street on the left that soon changes direction to the right and reaches rue Jean Jaurès. Follow this street on the right, pass the rue de la République and turn right, rue des Prés. Take the rue des Cordeliers on the left, pass a street and turn left, rue du Faubourg St-Nicolas. Soon after, turn right, rue du Temple and right again rue de l’Abreuvoir to reach quai Salvador Allende. Cross it and take quai Jacques Prévert.
4 – At the bridge, go right to cross the Marne and follow the quay on the right onto the next bridge. Go left, rue Berge and get to the covered market. Go around it to get to the place Jean Bureau. From there, head left to get to the 4 lane road. Follow it on the right, cross the Marne and walk left to reach the SNCF train station.
